This is a frame from the classic ARPG Diablo 2. I played when I was a kid, before the expansion came out, and have been playing on and off ever since. I recently sold my gaming rig, along with almost everything else I own, so that I can go live out of my vehicle, traveling around, painting. I think it's going to be a really fun time. This kind of mirrors that, an entry into a new adventure, a journey. Of course for the character here, he is the devil walking into the light, to make his assault on heaven and humanity. For me it's a little bit different lol, but a journey nonetheless. I think it's a bittersweet send off, to have this as one of my last paintings in my home, as I motion to "set sail" so to speak. It's go time dudes. ARPG? That's just my life now. Let's go.
Also. Not sure if you can tell, there is the slightest black speck in the golden light within the doorway. I could have painted over this, and chose to instead leave it. I kind of like that in my painting there is a speck of darkness in the light, almost as a sign of hope. If the light has a speck of darkness, then the character standing there must have a speck of light in him. And just like Luke defeating Vader, it wasn't because he was a strong jedi master. It was because he knew that he could call to that one speck of light within Vader, and he would be moved by this. This is what saved us, has always saved us. Not our skill, but our heart.
Thanks for all the good times, Diablo. This is my goodbye.
